Learn Robotics with fun activities and challenges! Octobots combines the craftsmanship of engineering with the high-octane excitement of high school robotics. Following design standards set by First Robotics, you’ll bring your idea to life by brainstorming, workshopping, and customizing a robot to your specifications.

  • Build Your Robot: From chassis to circuits, you'll get hands-on experience assembling a working robot from scratch.

  • Master the Code: Learn to program your creation to complete challenges and navigate obstacles.

  • Join the Team: Work with new friends to solve problems, develop strategies, and compete in the final showcase.

  • Location: Dos Pueblos High School
Camp Dates: Each week is different. You can sign up for one week or all weeks available in your grade.

    Week 1: June 22rd – June 26th
    Week 2: June 29th – July 3rd
    Week 3: July 6th – July 10th
    Week 4: July 13th – July 17th
    Week 5: July 20th – July 24th
    Week 6: July 27th – July 31st
    Week 7: Aug 3rd – Aug 7th

    Time: 9am to 3pm
    Grades: Rising 5th to 9th

Week 1: Formula 1 Build a fast, maneuverable robot. Code precise driving controls and speed optimization. Competition: Obstacle course race with timed laps and penalty zones.

Week 2: Rebuilt Design a lifting mechanism (scissor lift, four-bar, elevator). Program autonomous lift positions and manual controls. Competition: Stack objects at different heights for points.

Week 3: Demolition Derby Build a robot optimized for pushing/moving game objects. Code sensor-assisted alignment and controlled power. Competition: Push objects into scoring zones, bonus for accuracy.

Week 4: Treasure Hunt Create intake mechanisms (rollers, claws, scoops). Program pickup sequences and object handling. Competition: Collect and deposit the most objects within a time limit.

Week 5: Robot Maze Build a versatile robot and focus heavily on sensor programming (line following, distance sensors, color detection). Competition: Fully autonomous navigation and scoring challenge - no driver control.

Week 6: RoboSoccer Design robots with ball-handling mechanisms. Code precise control for dribbling and shooting. Competition: 2v2 soccer matches with goals and timed periods.

Week 7: Launch Zone Build a catapult or launcher mechanism. Code aiming systems and firing sequences. Competition: Accuracy and distance shooting challenge at multiple targets for points.

  • A Week in the Life of a Camp Robot Builder

Every week follows a rhythm designed to keep campers curious, challenged, and having fun — with a big payoff on Friday.

Monday – Kickoff & Design: Campers meet their team, get their engineering challenge for the week, and start sketching and planning their robot. Safety glasses on — it's time to think like an engineer.

Tuesday & Wednesday – Build & Code: The robots come to life. Campers work hands-on with motors, sensors, and structural components while writing the code that makes their machine move, grab, score, or whatever the week's mission demands. Stuck? That's the point — problem-solving is the whole game.

Thursday – Test, Tweak & Practice: Robots rarely work perfectly the first time, and that's a feature, not a bug. Campers run their robots through their paces, debug issues, refine their design, and get competition-ready.

Friday – Competition Day: The field goes up, the teams square off, and the best robot wins — until next week when we start all over again with a new challenge.

Throughout the week, team-building games and breaks happen outside in the fresh air, while building and coding take place in our indoor workspace. Every day blends physical activity with technical challenge, so no two hours feel the same.

Octobots Robotics is proud to promote an incredible 1:5 instructor to student ratio.

  • AFFORDABILITY/SCHOLARSHIPS

It is extremely important to us that robotics and stem education is available to everyone regardless of your situation or income level. We are offering scholarships on the honor system. If you need access to a scholarship in order to attend the Octobots Summer Camp, please submit the following request form. No income level is requested, again we are processing these based on the honor system. You choose the tier that your family can afford to make robotics education available for your child. We only have a certain number of scholarships available, so please use this only if you need it.
