FRC

WHAT IS FIRST?

FIRST, an acronym for “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology,” is an organization founded by Dean Kamen devoted to inspiring young people to be leaders and innovators in STEM.

FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is an international high school competition that pairs students with mentors and corporate engineering sponsors to give them hands-on experience building a robot that will eventually compete in a sport-like event against other teams. The themes and rules of each competition vary from year to year but typically involve a shooting aspect and a mobility challenge. Students have the opportunity to learn from experienced mentors and go through the real-world process of designing and programming a robot. Visit this website to find out more about each year’s unique game and set of rules.

THE 2024 GAME

The FRC 2024 game, called Crescendo, is finally out, released on January 7. Starting then, for the next 6 weeks Octobots, along with thousands of teams worldwide, will be designing, building, and programming a robot from scratch, all the way up to our first competition. This video summarizes the 2024 game and rules, in which our robot’s strategic design is based upon.
